International Symposium on Accounting Information Systems

June 13, 2021 (preceding ECIS 2021)

Marrakech, Morocco

Dear AIS researcher,

We want to inform you that, unfortunately, ISAIS 2021 is canceled. However, this website will provide updates on information about ISAIS 2022 which will take place next year in Melbourne, Australia.

Take care,

Mieke Jans

Tilburg University, in collaboration with Hasselt University, is pleased to announce the tenth International Symposium on Accounting Information Systems (ISAIS), immediately preceding ECIS 2021, the European Conference on Information Systems. ISAIS rotates annually between the University of Melbourne (Australia), Tilburg University (The Netherlands) and Michigan State University (USA) to be hosted every 3 years in the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

While the AIS research field is identified by its cross-discipline character, we specifically (re-)articulate the ambition of reaching out to neighbouring communities including information systems research, business process management and systems engineering. Having ISAIS as a pre-ECIS workshop is a clear signal towards this ambition. In this way, we aim to further broaden the expertise and scope of discussions beyond the circle of accounting (information systems) researchers who are traditionally strongest represented at ISAIS.

About this edition

Connecting researchers from various disciplines related to accounting

Recent technologies such as process mining, blockchain and other distributed ledgers, machine learning, and robotic process automation, to name but a few, pose challenges and represent opportunities that have the potential to completely disrupt the whole spectrum of phenomena that AIS is interested in. For this tenth edition of ISAIS, we will highlight the importance of information systems in AIS research, bridging both disciplines.

The 2021 ISAIS program will tentatively include an overview of AIS research – what have been the topics of interest since 2000? – followed by a panel discussion. Further, the program will consist of journal quality paper presentations and a tutorial.

What can you expect?

A tutorial about process mining, an example topic of interest for researchers from different fields who can find a common interest in the AIS community.
